Struggling to Pay off My Daughters Medical Bills

September 2nd, 2008

After my daughters emergency hospital stay, I was left with a medical bill of over 10,000 dollars. The hospital would not negotiate with me to make responsible payments. I tried to explain that I was a single mother struggling to make ends meet. They wanted their money right now or they were going to put a lean against my home. My home was all I had for my hard work. I had no choice, but to contact a debt relief company to get the hospital off my back. I was beside myself because of the harassing phone calls and letters. There was no reasoning with the hospital. I chose debt consolidation because they were able to negotiate with the hospital to reduce the amount of the bill and end the harassing phone calls and letters. They were able to set a plan to reduce the debt and I was able to pay off the bill early. The Debt Relief company had me set a separate account where the money for the hospital bill was sent. Once a month I paid the bill. After I paid off the bill I continued to save the money in the same savings account. Now I have a nice nest saved in case an emergency happens from a broken down car to another medical bill. During the process of paying of the bill I learned the importance of saving for a rainy day.

“Cast all your cares to the Lord and He will sustain you. He will never let the righteous fall.” (Psalm 55:22) “But my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:13) In this world where you seem to be struggling against all odds, it pays to be under the wings of the Lord to nurture you in times of crisis. Just trust Him always. God bless you and your children I am always praying for you.
