Holiday Planning Time

December 6th, 2008

Christmas is right around the corner for a lot of people. Deciding on what Christmas food to serve is on a lot of people’s minds. Living with lupus I am limited with the amount of things I can do during the holidays. I have to decide what things I can do and what things I can’t do. If you have a big family it can be fun doing some family projects together. Some families like to build snow men in the back yard or doing art projects together. It can be difficult finding things to pass the time when kids get bored. Celebrations offer a whole bunch of ideas of what to do during the holidays. They show you how to make snowman out of marshmallows. This can be a fun project for even the littlest ones in your family. The site shows a step by step explanation on how to create many different fun things to do for big and little kids of all ages.

Our family has had some of the funnest times playing games – Cranium, Pictionary, Catch Phrase. Yet, a lot of times, we forget all about it because football is on or we’re caught up in small discussion groups or whatever. Good ol’ fashioned games can still be a great time.

One of my best Christmas celebrations was during a very tough time – emotionally and financially. I read an article that had a an awesome tip that made our day so special.

In brief it suggested a Christmas treasure hunt. Every gift (and there weren’t many) came with 3 or 4 clues to search it out.

We had so much fun! Just like that saying “people don’t remember what you did for them, they remember how you made them feel.” After this the kids wanted a treasure hunt for all our celebrations!

I agree that planning a holiday well in advance is very useful. I had faced this trouble on my first holiday. It was not planned – it was sort of impromptu. I didn’t know of the popular places to visit in & around the destination and had no idea about other details like accomodation, climate, etc. So we faced a lot of trouble managing our holiday but somehow we just managed it. However, I learnt a lesson that henceforth I would always plan my outings, to the best I can. This surely will make my life delightful!

I’m glad that you’re not overdoing it. I am going to try my best this year not to so I don’t get sick. So far, so good!

Living with lupus must be tough. It seems you have a good attitude though. I wish you good health!
