A Good Nights Sleep

March 1st, 2009

Living with chronic pain I have a lot of issues with sleep. I have many days where I can not fall asleep at all. I toss and turn many times and can not fall asleep. Other days I fall asleep, but I wake up feeling like I’ve been hit by a train or a semi some days. When I don not sleep well I pay for it the next day. I have TMJ as well which causes teeth grinding at night which causes my jaws to be out of place. At times it can be really painful. I am supposed to wear a splint, but it does not fit anymore and they are so expensive. My TMJ is caused by 2 car accidents in 2000. My jaw has never been the same since. I have thought about having a sleep study to see if there is something I can do to help with sleep. One of my biggest worries is having Sleep Apnea which causes you to stop breathing at times during the night.

I suggest you read the Bible each night before going to sleep, then meditate and pray using the word of God. You will have the most peaceful sleep you will ever have in your life. You will also understand more what is happening in your life. Just try it. You’ve got nothing to lose. Thanks for the post. God bless you always.

I sure hope you managed a good night’s sleep! I feel for you–I’ve also got chronic pain issues–including TMJ. Sleeping–and restful sleeping–can be a challenge at times. Everyone is so different with what works for them…I can’t offer advice, but will keep you very much in my prayers.

    Have a great day!

I also have a problem falling asleep due to pain. I usually take a muscle relaxer and Advil before bed. Sometimes that doesn’t even do any good. I have been waking up gasping for breath recently, and I went to an Ear Nose and Throat Dr. turns out I have chronically inflamed tonsils and now they are going to take them out. Very odd I think.

I have Fibro, RA and other autoimmune diseases. As tired as I am, I still have trouble sleeping. I can fall asleep quickly but can’t stay asleep. It’s awful.

I relate. I am tired and in pain almost constantly yet sleep still evades me and when it does come I rarely wake feeling refreshed. Instead I usually wake feeling as if I were ran over by a truck. I am still fighting for a diagnosis – I have reached the point where I don’t even care what the diagnosis is as long as someone in the medical arena takes me seriously.
    Much love!

I have an auto immune disorder and sleep is a huge issue for me. Getting enough sleep is essential to healing up for me. I often cannot sleep in spite of pain medication, sleep medication and even a benadryl thrown in because I have very high levels of pain right now. But I remembered something from the last time I flared up that cured my insomnia, drinking water. Once my body was properly hydrated, and that did take a while, I had no problem sleeping whatsoever and I have always had insomnia, for over 20 years! The hydration also reduced my pain levels a bit and just helped in all kinds of little ways.
So now I am trying to drink water, and I don’t want to at all. So I am pulling all kinds of little tricks on myself to get a little more water each day. I know from experience that a point will come where I will reawaken my thirst and then I will be chugging the water.
Compliments on your website, it is the most beautiful design I have ever seen! I am getting one started myself, just for the relief of pain and symptoms brought on by so many things. I was checking out what is out there and came upon your site, I will be back. Thank you for providing a peaceful place.
