Help Changing Sidebar Color in Wordpress

I’m trying to change my theme and I’ve ran into a snag with the sidebar. The theme is not live yet because I’m working on it now with the theme test drive plugin, which I love.

Does anyone know how to change the entire sidebars color? I am wanting to use an image that I’ve created for my entire sidebar color. It only changes the color in the area where the widgets are, not the entire sidebar.

I’m using the Atahualpa 3 Wordpress theme. If anyone has suggestions I’d appreciate it. I’ve googled and google until my head is spinning. :)
