What a great tip to offer. Losing ones saved hard work and memories is a lot like losing a wallet. Trust me…I have experienced both and you can never be too sure when it may happen.
I definitely back up your post with telling everyone to do exactly that…back up your files

Sounds pretty good. I may check them out. I currently back my stuff up on discs but that takes a lot of work and gets old. Was thinking about carbonite too. Thanks for the info.

Haha – puppy dog searches! It took me a second to realize what you meant, but then I got it. That’s a great phrase.
Backing up your files is certainly important. You never know when your computer will fail or a virus will wipe stuff out. I keep important files on a thumb drive and a CD, anything I can’t replace. Most of my software is free to download (Firefox, Thunderbird, Openoffice etc), which is great because I’m not losing any expensive software if something goes wrong. I also keep a lot of stuff in my email account – I have like 7gb on my gmail account, which is plenty of room for whatever I want to store – mostly word documents and some photos.

This is a great tip. I’ve been thinking about looking for an online backup system. I have hard drives everywhere. I even keep one at work, but it might be nice to store everything in one place. I’ve used Carbonite.com for two years and needed it to download files to new computers twice and a reformatted computer once. It’s 50 a year for unlimited space.
