Seeking Help For The Past

September 10th, 2009

Getting help for a mental illness is overwhelming for most people. Most people avoid their problems rather then deal with them. A lot of people suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and don’t get treatment. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is caused by something traumatic happening in someone’s life. Some of the things are childhood abuse, war, sexual assault, disasters, physical abuse, mental abuse, and domestic violence, just to name a few things. Once someone decides to see a therapist it can be hard to find a good therapist.  In the past I thought PTSD was treated only one way.  Sometimes the first therapist or therapy will not work, so you may need find someone else or try a new therapy. I did not know that Somatic Therapy was a way to treat trauma until recently. Now, Working with a San Diego Therapist will show you just how traumatic issues affect your body today. Somatic Therapy is a kind of therapy that works with the mind and body, rather then just talk therapy. Most people do not realize that our bodies can retain the trauma form years ago. If you don’t get some help for the trauma it can affect you for years. A Somatic therapist is San Diego can help you recognize when your body is stressing.  Once you’re able to recognize your body’s reaction to a situation you’ll know how to react to the situation.
