Turning Over a New Leaf

October 2nd, 2009

Need help paying your bills? As a struggling single Mom I was lucky to pay my rent, water and electric when my daughter was just a toddler. I was working a full time job that barely paid my bills so I had to get a speedy cash advance. I wasn’t able to pay for extra daycare so I was not able get another job. Instead I started looking for a higher paying job and planned to attend school to get my nursing assistant certificate so I could get certified. When I got the cash advance I had to put my car title up as collateral for the loan. It was one of the hardest decisions I made, but I had to feed my daughter. At the time, I didn’t know about food banks for the poor and needy. I was happy to find a church close to us offered weekly food packages and some assistance on living expenses. I took the assistance so I could put money away to pay off the cash advance. It was a large relief once the title loan was paid off. I didn’t have to fret about losing my car day and night. It was a pretty hard time in my life. Shortly after paying off the loan I was able to find a nursing home that would hire me while I was going to school. That year was a good year because I paid off the loan, got my GED and got a higher paying job. I’m not appreciative of the time I had to get the cash advance because it opened up some great doors.
