My family had 2 people that made holidays happen, those memories are priceless to me. You know the type, they would “Tell” you what to bring & what time they expected you to be there. Those days are gone now. All us kids have gotten married moved away. I married a military man, so holidays were never “Normal” for my family. We were always far away from home, & my husband was often gone on deployments, so holidays had a new meaning for us.
Now, my kids are 18, & 20 despite my Lupus flares, we make every effort for holiday dinners. We make it a family thing, everyone has their dish they make. It’s really nice, & has become less stressful, & more of a fun day to actually look forward to. I have an office chair with rollers, I sit at the table to mix and prepare, & roll to the stove to cook. lol Everytime Lupus throws me a curve, I am there throwing it right back. I refuse to let it ruin anything for me. I am an Irish decedent with red hair, there is no way Lupus will take who I am. Granted I am exhausted when the day is done, but its always well worth it.
I would have to say my favorites would be sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, & noodles.
I hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with lessened Lupus symptoms.
