Physical Therapy for Hip Injuries and Life

April 24th, 2012

I’ve been dealing with a lot of health issues lately. My hip was injured a couple of weeks before Thanksgiving 2011. I’m currently in physical therapy to help strengthen the hip, but it’s very slow going. I think the physical therapy only being 30 minutes isn’t given me enough time to improve things.  I’ve been doing the exercise with the theraband I’m up to a blue band now which is great. I feel very discoraged that I’m only doing 30 minutes twice a week. I do 10 of each exercise and ride a recumbent bicycle which is really cool. I wish I had one at home. I’ve been working harder on improving my writing skill, which is fun.  My two dogs have been really sick from an allergic reaction to Advantix. Now I have to decide which flea medication to use on them.

Until Next Time,

Chronic Chronic

Have you had physical therapy and was it helpful? How long were your sessions?

Caring for My Pets

October 26th, 2009

When a dog has fleas it’s a real pain getting them out of your house. As a child, we had three dogs that had fleas. They didn’t have the same treatments for fleas that they have today so we’d bathe them in flea shampoo and spray for fleas with pest control fleas. It didn’t always work that well. I felt so bad for her so I would sit down on our porch and pull the fleas off of her. I put that poor old dog through a lot dragging her around in my green wagon. All she would do is wag her little black and white tail at me and smile. She was a great little dog and I’ll always love her as we were perfect companions when I was a child.

Camera Critters: Mason Take One

October 24th, 2009

Camera Critters

When Mason was a pup he would hide under things and scare you half to death. He loves to hide under furniture. Sometimes I wonder how he gets under things, after all he is a big boy. When I’m not feeling good he’s right by my side.

Do They Ever Stop Growing?

October 18th, 2009

My daughter’s sixteenth birthday is in a few months. It’s hard to believe she’s so close to being an adult. In all honesty, I’m not looking forward to her eighteenth birthday. It’s not that I’m not proud of her; it’s just hard seeing my baby growing up. She’s grown into a respectful, honest, kind and sweet young lady. It’s hard planning for her sixteenth birthday on a tight budget. I need to check around for prices on party favors. I wish I could rewind the time to her being a little girl again. It amazes me how fast time flies in life, where’s a time traveler when you need one.

She’s crazy about polka dots, dogs, and Avril Lavigne. I’m trying to combine all of them together to create the perfect party themes for her sweet sixteen. I need to buy party favors, food, and birthday gifts for her. I’m not sure what I’m going to buy her this year, but it has to be special. She might like these Hollywood party favors I found online. I found a company that offers some creative party ideas for just about any party.  The party favors I found are Hollywood squares just like the ones in California for the stars. I think it’ll be a perfect party for a sweet sixteen, but I’ll have to save money to afford her birthday surprise.

For her birthday I’d like to set up tables with party food. I’m not sure if I’m going to bake her cake or have someone else bake her cake. I’d like to decorate her cake with pink and blue polka dots with small dogs in each dot. I’m sure it’ll be an interesting cake for any cake decorator. Chances are they won’t decorate a cake like this again. Just like the cake my daughter is original too. For decorations I’d like to buy some pink and blue streamers and make a poster with happy sixteenth birthday.

Looking for Deals all over the Web

June 26th, 2009

Today, I was looking all over the internet for some new shoes for my daughter. She wants a pair of Etnies in pink and black. I don’t even know if they sell those colors together. I’ve surfed all over the web until I’m blue in the face. Kids sure do ask for the darndest things. On my travels through cyberspace, I found a site called Best Online Coupons that offers Endless Shoes and Handbags promotional code . They’ve got a coupon for just about everything. I was surprised how many of the big companies offer great deals. I need to buy a new freezer so I’m going to look for coupon codes for Sears or Target or somewhere else that sells chest freezers. I’m trying to get out of the deliver fee of $65.00 on top of the price of the freezer and that doesn’t include the $10.00 haul away fee. I remember when you could get free delivery and they would take the old one away for free. It’s sad when they want to nickel and dime you for everything. I’m hoping to find a coupon code to save a few bucks. I found a coupon code for Petsmart, which will save me 12% on my purchase of dog collars and leashes. My dog’s retractable leash has seen better days and the collars are stretched out. I’m going to purchase a martingale collar for my male dog for some training. I love this site so much I’m bookmarking it.

My Dogs Trying to Act like Angels

September 1st, 2008

This is one of those times where these two are trying to act like there total angels. They both love each other, but also like to wind each other up. Darcy the shih tzu a lot of the time won’t tell you she needs to go out, instead she winds Mason up and then Mason asks to go out. This bean bag chair was stolen by Mason the white Maltese poodle from my daughter. When he was just a pup he use to drag it through the house. My daughter finally gave up on taking her bean bag chair back. Well the bean bag became Mason’s beanbag chair. At times, I have put the beanbag outside and Mason acts depressed because his precious bean bag chair is outside. Darn dogs have some kind of crazy personality. I love dogs a lot, except when they bite. This past week Mason was good when I clipped his nails. This was shear miracle. I still can’t get over it.

This Week Has Been A Whirlwind

April 26th, 2008

This past week seems like a whirlwind. Last weekend my daughter received her orange belt in tae kwon do. It was neat seeing all the different belts do steps to receive the next belt. She got an award for being the most improved in her school. This has been a lot of hard work for her. She’s been working for 7 months for this particular belt. She has her days she likes the tae kwon do and other days she cares less.

The weather has been crazy between the earthquake tremors and the temperatures falling back out. I will be glad when it stays at one temperature. We’ve been walking/wheeling mason my Maltese Poodle, to reduce his weight. The vet says he needs to loose some weight. It’s a struggle to take some of his weight off. He loves to eat. My daughter’s been walking him a couple times a day. We have to start out slow with him because of arthritis in his hips from a birthing injury or the mother attacking him. He was near dead when we bought him from a pet shop. We saved his life. Mason loves to bark, so were trying to curve the barking. He is a high strung half poodle. Darcy my other dog is doing well, she’s a high strung Shih Tzu, but she doesn’t bark as much.

I think this week has been pretty productive. It may be just me, but I think removing those energy saving bulbs has helped. I do still have the pain from living with the lupus and fibromylagia, but I am feeling a bit better.

Chronic Chick Shots Take 1

A Few Shots From A Chronic Chick

Sunflower Potted Garden 2007

This is a picture of my sunflower potted garden. I created the garden last spring/summer. The sunflowers were planted in pots so that I could have a garden. Being creative while living with lupus can be tough-But a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do. This year will prove to be another struggle to have a garden, but time will show my creative side. Living Life with lupus the best way I know how.

They give lots of great  puppy dog  kisses. The black and white dog is a shih tzu named Darcy and The white dog is named Mason, whose a Maltese poodle. They have an extraspecial place in my heart. They both love me unconditional and can’t ask for two better doggies. More pictures to come.

Mason is enjoying a snooze in his favorite bean bag chair, which he stole from my daughter.
