Helping A Loved One

February 1st, 2009

Being an Adult Child of an Alcoholic I have to endure a lot of ups and downs in my life. One of my dreams as a child was that my family member affected by drug and alcohol abuse with for them to enter an Alcohol Rehab Program. My brother is the only member of my family that’s successfully completed an Alcohol Rehabilitation program. He said that it has changed his life. He’s had to change a lot of his habits in his life. He now lives and breathes the water. He goes fishing constantly. My Mom and I joked that he should have fins instead of feet. Actually, both of my brother love to go fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. The Rehab place he went to was a lot like the Cliffside Malibu Rehab where they treat people affected by a large variety of Addictions. They have one on one therapy and group therapy and treatment for depression. I am happy my brother was able clean up his life at an Alcohol Rehabs to get my brother on his feet. He has now had a legitimate job for over a year, which by the way is building boats. I guess I could say that he can not get enough of the boats and the oceans.

A Daughter's Hope

October 21st, 2008

I have a lot of experience dealing with someone else’s addiction to alcohol and drugs. Growing up in an alcoholic home you get first hand experience with addiction. My mother is an alcoholic so I dealt with her many mood swings. She has struggled with depression since I was a little girl, but did not receive any treatment until she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She took depression medications for a short time, but soon gave them up when she couldn’t drink on them as well. When she was getting treatment for depression she was easier to be around. She has never quit drinking since I was a little girl. It’s brought on a lot of angry emotions in me. If she would receive successful alcohol therapy I would be thrilled. Its something I’ve only dreamed of as a little girl. Cliffside Malibu is one affordable drug rehab place in Los Angeles, California. You can enjoy all the pleasures of life while receiving treatment for your addictions. It looks very nice with the beautiful rooms and amenities of life. I think it’s important for someone struggling with addiction to see theirs another side of life. By staying in a nice place the person can see another side of life instead of struggling with addiction. I have known a few people who’ve got clean and go on to be successful in life. It’s important to find successful drug therapy for the depression or any other mental illness while in rehab.

Struggles with Weight Loss

October 5th, 2008

Finding the best way to lose weight is difficult. Most people begin with diet and exercise which brings them some success in losing weight. My friend Casey struggled to lose weight for years. She turned to Diet Pills to get off the rest of her weight. She has tried all different diets to help her lose weight. She would get discouraged very quickly. This didn’t help her self esteem. She was depressed a lot because she couldn’t reach her goal for weight loss. Casey had struggled with being over weight since she was a little girl. In her teens she was called the fat girl in class. She faced a lot of rejection from people around her. When she kept her weight off she felt better about herself. She was able to be social with her peers and didn’t feel like she needed to hide from others. The drug Acomplia was the first diet drug she tried. She was able to keep the weight off which helped her feel better about herself. Casey talked to her doctor before trying a diet drug. Casey’s mother had taken Reductil for her weight loss struggles. Casey’s mother had been her greatest cheer leader. I tried to be supportive of Casey, but it was not easy for me. I hadn’t struggled with my weight until Lupus. Having Lupus I’ve had to take medication just to keep my symptoms under control. The prednisone has helped me gain the most weight. Now I can understand her struggle with losing weight and keeping the weight off. Lupus has its way of giving you many ups and downs in life. In life we all have our own struggles. Struggles are just a part of life.

Helping a Parent Recover From Addiction

September 29th, 2008

Having a parent struggling with Alcohol addiction is very difficult for a child. They see the parent go up and down like the weather. When a parent enters an Alcohol Rehab Center the child only hopes the parent will get better. Sometimes the parent does not get better the first time around. It’s difficult for the child to know how to react. As a child they are not able to understand what is going on with the parent. An inpatient drug rehab center is a place where the parent can go for rehabilitation. While they there they can enjoy all the luxuries of home while they are healing. They have beautiful furniture in there living room overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Your family can come to visit you for family time. They offer Drug Detox so the parent does not have to go through the withdrawal from alcohol. This makes the process easier for the parent. They offer group and individual therapy to help your parent get better. While you’re at Alcohol Rehab you are around people who are dealing with the same issues. This helps the parent feel less alone. This meets all the needs of the parent going through the Alcohol Treatment.

Healing from Addiction

September 14th, 2008

My best friend has struggled with addiction for years. She’s been in and out of rehab many times. She’s experimented with many different drugs. The Vicodin Addiction has been the hardest addiction for her to break. The addiction started with a back injury and after her back was healed she continued to take the medication. She already had an issue with addiction so this just made the problem worse. Some people do not understand that their is a difference between when you medically need a medication and when your abusing the medication. If you have to keep taking more and more of a medication, you may have an issue with addiction. Some people find it easy to go through Detox in order to be free of the addiction. My friend at her last visit to rehab did start to do better with her multiply addictions. She’s now able to hold a full time job and getting better. She’s taking things one day at a time. When she’s struggling she calls a friend or family member for some help. At the last rehab place they used a medication called Suboxone which helped her not go through all the withdrawal symptoms from the vicodin. I’m glad to see that there is finally a place where she can get well.
