Another Belt and the Importance of Volunteering
Yesterday I was excited because my daughter earned another belt for Tae Kwon Do. It was the first time she tested out at her new tae kwon do place. The last place we left because of black mold issues. I was so proud of how she put all her might into all her kicks, punches, and self defense moves. They didn’t break any boards for this test out. I got to put her new belt for her the first time. Its part of the program reminding the kids that they wouldn’t be there without there parents. She kept saying, ” You did a good job putting on my belt. ” It was sweet of her. Because truthfully I couldn’t put her belt on like she does. Its another thing that practice makes perfect.
Today she went to volunteer at the local library. She’s been doing this for about a month. The funny thing she hates to read, but loves to volunteer at the library. It makes me laugh because she has to read in order to file the books and find the lost books. I think its important that young people give back to the community because so many people now aday want want want, but don’t give back to the community. It gets her out the house and it gives me a break. Mom’s need breaks too. This year homeschooling for the first year I want to make sure she gets lots of socialization as she can be really shy at times.
