Health Benefits of Nuts

November 1st, 2008

Living with Lupus makes you look for ways to improve your quality of life. Lupus increases your risk of heart disease. Nuts have been shown to have many health benefits. They are a healthy snack instead of grabbing a bag of chips or cookies. There have been studies that show the many benefits of nuts. It’s an easy way to find a snack that’s high in protein. It’s a nice snack for those times when you get the munchies from side effects of medications. Instead of giving someone a box of cookies purchases them a nut gifts . I know I get the munchies late in the evening. It’s interesting how some foods are shown to help with medical conditions. When I buy pistachio nuts I can’t get enough of them. They usually don’t last long in my house.

I love nuts. Pecans, almonds, pistachios, peanuts, walnuts, pine nuts. . . you name it I’ve probably got a bag of them in my freezer or cupboard. Pistachios don’t last long in our house either. Almonds have been a great source of magnesium to help my little one (and sometimes me) to overcome constipation. Pecans are just plain yummy – alone or in cookies, mmmm.

Chick, this post is so interesting. Because of the latest post I wrote on “Changing the Way You think About Health and Your Life”, Jessica, who publishes “Live On Purpose”, informed me of the benefits of eating Walnuts. She said they are rich in EFA and DHA as well as helping the brain to function smother.

Almonds, along with blueberries, brocoli, yogurt, tomatoes and others, were listed as one of the top 10 foods that everyone should eat (pending no nut allergies, of course).

Yes, nuts are a great all around food, especially after the low fat hype finally was put to rest, and people realized there are good fats and bad fats.

Hello Chick! I like eating peanuts only. Since I was a kid I like it so much. But I have oily skin so I limit eating nuts now.
