A new pair of glasses is always great to have in time for the holidays. My daughter loves to dress up for the holidays from head to toes with holiday decor. I love how she gets into the holiday spirit. This year she decorated our tree by herself since I was not able to help out. Since I have a hard time getting her to wear her cheap eyeglasses I wonder if I bought her one for each season of the year if that would encourage her to wear them more often than she does now. Sometimes a parent has to do what they have to do to get their kids to wear. Mine tries all kinds of tricks not to wear them, but not much you can do with a teenager other than get creative. I’m so glad I didn’t have put glasses on her when she was little, since I’m sure she’d pull them off more than keep them on. Then again she may have liked them, if she started when she was little. Do your kids like to wear glasses or do they make up every excuse known to man to not wear their glasses. I think I’ll talk to her about seasonal one to bring out her beautiful blue eyes even though she thinks It hides them.

My vitamin D levels are low again so my rheumatologist tested me for Celiac disease. According to Celiac Central “Celiac disease is an autoimmune digestive disease that damages the villi of the small intestine and interferes with absorption of nutrients from food. What does this mean? Essentially the body is attacking itself every time a person with celiac consumes gluten.”
After several blood tests, I learned I did not have Celiac disease at this time, but I could still be gluten intolerant.
Being gluten free can improve the symptoms of Systemic Lupus Erythematous, Multiple Sclerosis, Sjogrens’s Syndrome, Crohns Disease, Hashimotos, and Rheumatoid Arthritis, so I’m considering going gluten free.
I didn’t know what gluten was until the nurse told me I was being tested for Celiac disease. Being inquisitive began my internet searches and here are some things I found:
The Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases says “Some people who have been diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) may really be suffering from an intolerance to the gluten in their diet”
Do you have symptoms of Celiac Disease? Visit Celiac Central to see if you’ve got symptoms. 97% of people don’t know they have Celiac disease.
Jenni from Chronic Babe wrote about a coffee shop being totally intolerant about illness.
Would you consider going on a special diet to reduce symptoms?

Taking plaquenil requires that I have my eyes tested at least once a year. Even though each doctor has it’s own way to check for injury from the plaquenil I’ve been fortunate they have found anything new. I cringe when I see the prices for a pair of
prescription sunglasses. I need the tinting since my eyes are vulnerable to the rays from the sun since I take a lot of medication. I like putting transitions in my glasses since it automatically tints instead of taking one pair off to put another on. But since prices are going through the roof on most things I’m trying to cut a lot of corners.
It may be worth ordering multiple pairs online since I can purchase a couple of pairs a lot cheaper. I’d like a pair to wear with my casual clothing and a special pair for going out. I could put sunglass tint in another pair for the times I’m outdoors and driving around our small town. The color assortments available online really surprised me, but I think I’d spend a lot of time online choosing a perfect pair of glasses since I couldn’t possibly buy just one pair. It’s not easy having an eye exam, but since it costs less money it’s a bigger motivator for buying new glasses.

Living with a malar rash has made me really subconscious of my appearance at times. When it’s prevalent I wear base foundation with a little lip gloss or lipstick. It helps so I don’t have the constant red reminder of the rash across my face. I try to find make up without chemicals especially since I have strange reactions to medications since being sick.
I use a lot of lavender candles and lotions regularly. I have a bottle of lavender I use all over my legs all the time to relax the muscles in my legs and shoulders. The aroma of lavender filling the house helps relax me. I try to find it with chamomile which helps me relax too.
I try to use
all natural makeup that’s chemical free on a regular basis, but it’s not easy finding inexpensive cosmetics. Organic Beauty Now has beauty products for everyone. They carry coco butter for pregnant women, facial products for all, and make up teens. Having a teenage daughter, I love make up that especially made for teenagers. When my daughter started wearing makeup I looked for inexpensive teen make up, and could not find anything under twenty dollars per product. I wasn’t prepared to spend that kind of money on one thing for my daughter. Teens lose things and tend to overuse.

Trying to find a good resource for heart conditions is difficult to find. A few years ago I had a small stroke that affects my speech and part of my eye sight. Being able to understand how to prevent another stroke is difficult. I learned that I needed to keep my stress level down and watch for signs of another stroke. Your heart is an important organ that needs lots of care to prevent Heart Conditions. The heart.org is a web page full of resources for on all conditions related to the heart. It is a part of the popular web page WebMD. Many people don’t realize that hypertension is a silent killer. Many people don’t realize that you should have your blood pressure checked on a regular basis. The nurse at the doctor’s office can check your blood pressure at your next check up. In some of the pharmacies they have an electronic blood pressure cuff to monitor your blood pressure. When I was a CNA we had many patients came in with Acute Coronary Syndrome. They always needed special care. Exercise is an important way to keep your heart healthy. We had to teach the patients how proper diet and exercise can help keep your heart healthy.
