A new pair of eyeglasses is a perfect way to feel special about yourself especially when you’re feeling down and out. It’s a perfect icemaker for anyone who has a hard time starting conversation with strangers. If I was purchasing a pair I’d pick a pair with a little bit of etching on the sides since I don’t like to draw too much attention to myself, especially when I’m not feeling very well during a lupus or fibromyagia flare.

It is one way to feel good about myself when I’m feeling down and out with the pain and fatigue of living with lupus and chronic pain. A little color goes a long way to make you feel better on a bad day. I’d choose a pair that has a little color without overdoing it.

I would wear my new glasses with my crocheted Valentine’s Day hat I’m making right now. Zenni Optical has a pair for only $9.95 that includes anti-scratch coating, UV protection, a case, and cleaning cloth. I really like the glasses with a roses etching on both sides. I could buy a pair of glasses for every month for less than I paid for one pair at retail optical.

A new pair of glasses is always great to have in time for the holidays. My daughter loves to dress up for the holidays from head to toes with holiday decor. I love how she gets into the holiday spirit. This year she decorated our tree by herself since I was not able to help out. Since I have a hard time getting her to wear her cheap eyeglasses I wonder if I bought her one for each season of the year if that would encourage her to wear them more often than she does now. Sometimes a parent has to do what they have to do to get their kids to wear. Mine tries all kinds of tricks not to wear them, but not much you can do with a teenager other than get creative. I’m so glad I didn’t have put glasses on her when she was little, since I’m sure she’d pull them off more than keep them on. Then again she may have liked them, if she started when she was little. Do your kids like to wear glasses or do they make up every excuse known to man to not wear their glasses. I think I’ll talk to her about seasonal one to bring out her beautiful blue eyes even though she thinks It hides them.

Being insured is especially important for people with chronic illness when traveling abroad. I have not traveled abroad since I’ve been sick. Before leaving town, I would need to check if my medical insurance covers me aboard and if I had enough coverage. If I was traveling to Australia I would look into Australian Health Insurance to cover my medical needs. They have several plans which cover hospitalization, doctor’s visits, and funerals. The health insurance offers several coverage plans from budget visitor coverage to executive coverage. Buying the budget coverage is better than having no insurance at all. To sign up for the coverage you’ll need your visa. Being insured during a vacation will give you peace of mind while enjoying yourself during your trip. If you are visiting Australia having Australian Health Insurance is a great idea. It’s easy to purchase online before leaving town. Being insured can have a huge impact on your pocketbook if you need medical attention.

I wish I could be the old me at least during the holiday. I’d love the energy to shop until I drop and enjoy the holidays to the fullest. Sure I enjoy the holidays with my family, but it’s hard to be completely part of the holiday when you’re fatigued and full of pain. The hardest part is not being able to plan anytime of the year, but it’s especially hard during the holiday season. I try to pace myself, but I tend to overdo myself when I have the energy to move around my house. I have to remember to pace myself every day since I struggle all the time with my energy level and pain. Pacing could extend my endurance, but I’m always fearful of pain the next day. I have to remember that chronic illness may slow me down, but it doesn’t mean I cannot enjoy the holidays at a slower pace.

How do you deal with stress during the holidays?

Most people don’t think of their phone as a mini computer. If you’ve got a smart phone chances are you have photos, and contact information on it. How would you feel if you lost all your data? I would be pretty upset since I take a lot of pictures of my daughter and dogs. IDrive Lite Backup is an app that you can easily back up your contacts and photos on. It’s an app that works on iPhone, blackberry, and android phones and it’s free. All you have to do is download the app, follow the registration information, and back up your data. It’s a great way to avoid losing important memories of your children or pets. On the site you’ll see a video that walks you through the process step by step. I downloaded the app to try on my phone and I found it was easy to download and backup your contacts. I went online to confirm that it work and found a list of my contacts online, which gives me piece of mind with my contacts being saved since I’ve lost several contacts a few and had to contact the people on a social network for their contact information.

She was an ideal patient in my mind since she continued to work even though she struggled daily with the lupus. She had several stokers before a stroke took her. I admire her ability to not let lupus bring her down. She worked until she died. Rest in Peace Auntie. You are forever in my heart. I pray one day a cure will be found for lupus.

Planning for a baby is an exciting time for most people. I can still remember learning I was pregnant with my daughter as a scared teenager. My emotions were up and down like a rollercoaster in a tornado. One moment I was crying the next moment I was happy. It wasn’t an easy thing to deal with, but I was determined to be a great Mom and protect my child. Shortly after the pregnancy sunk I wanted to know if I was having a boy or a girl so a gender predictor would’ve been an exciting tool to learn the sex.

Learning the baby gender predictor was one of the most exciting times of my pregnancy. Once I learned that I was having a girl I could start planning for the birth of my daughter. Knowing the baby gender allows the parent to look for clothing and furniture. I cannot imagine not knowing that I was having a bouncing baby girl I could dress up in lace, ribbon and bows. My bouncing bundle of joy is almost an adult now. I cringe at the idea of her going out in the crazy world, but I’m exciting about her being a college student.
